Final Island

These fractals are actually flat-out impossible to make in apophysis alone, btw. It would probably become possible (besides imaging/curves stuff) if I compiled a few new plugins, but as it is all I had to do was edit the xml and chaotica could do the effect. For one part I did have to ad-hoc-ly add two variables to post_falloff2. In the future (when chaotica implements some more generalized IFS stuff) even that shouldn't be necessary.

Besides my manual xml and customized plugin, the rest of this was technically very simple though. Only three transforms + final, no xaos. I'm thinking of these recent pieces as a some kind of vague "new direction." Most obvious is the darkness but they've also been exploring very simple params and trying to make them look unique through presentation stuff.
