Description

I have become quite disenchanted with the smooth shiny high-production-value style of IFS fractals that seems to be in style right now, whether it's high-contrast nebulas for instant visual impact, or tesselations with every piece slickly color-blocked and sliding right into exact place. That's not to say I will never like (or make!) anything like that ever again, but my perception is that right now, they are so trendy fractals that adhere to that style are given an insta-ooh-ahh quality pass even if there might not have been whole lot of artistic thought and/or experimentation put into the other elements of the piece. And also I am just longing for some of the great grungy styles that I have barely seen recently.

So! Here is a tile that was designed with some overlaps. I went through painstaking effort to calculate the exact positions of the transforms and when I was done I nudged a few of them off their marks for texture. Then I scribbled all over it. I hope you like it!

(also my perception of fractal trends could be totally off because I haven't exactly been in the loop lately, but this has just been on my mind)
